08850 was built at Horwich in 1961 Following its withdrawl from service in 1993, it was initially preserved on the West Somerset Railway, this loco moved up to its new home in the late 1990s.

For a number of years it was based at Pickering and sees use as C & W loco and station pilot, but returned to Grosmont in 2018, in exchange for Drewery D2207. It is in BR blue and, following a spell running as 4018, it reverted to its TOPS numer of 08850.
