From 1st April 2023, the increasing statuses have been defined as:
Firecon 0
Normal services
Firecon 1
Normal timetable. Maximum care by loco crews.
Firecon 2
Normal timetable. Maximum care by loco crews, fire truck deployed.
Trains MAY be steam or diesel assisted Grosmont-Pickering, steam Grosmont-Whitby.
Firecon 3
Normal timetable
All trains diesel hauled or assisted between Grosmont & Pickering, steam Grosmont-Whitby.
Firecon 4
Normal timetable
All trains are HAULED by diesel between Pickering and Whitby.
Between 1st June 2018 and 31st March 2023, the increasing statuses were defined as:

Trains MAY be assisted by diesel over part or all of the journey.
Firecon 2

All trains are HAULED by diesel between Pickering and Grosmont/Whitby.

Normal timetable. All trains were HAULED by diesel between Grosmont and Pickering.
